Book Review: Everneath by Brodi Ashton

★★★★★

The first part of Everneath sucks. And then Jack comes in, turns shit around and the last part of the book is just bah. Soul-tearing.

By the way, isn't Caputo a milk company or something? LOL. (I kept thinking this whenever they mentioned his last name.)

I have a few things to say about this novel though,

#1 The cover is crap and totally misleading.
#2 The summary is total crap as well and a total turn-off.
#3 Jack is amazing and the romance is mind-blowing.
#4 I was almost tempted to like Cole...
#5 and I need a sequel SO BAD.

I know some people read the summary and assume that the novel is all about her trying to escape but ends up in Cole's arms, but no. It's far from that. It's a novel about relentlessness, running, confronting mistakes, heart-wrenching romance and just sad and pure pure pure 100% desperation.

And the order this story is told in is simply breath-taking. The beginning is totally confusing and shit but as you keep reading you are just all asiofjasoifj sa:-00000000 . I love how the answers were finally given at the very end of the novel, and the history between Jack and Nik was so cute. And sad. Oh god. I can't think about the ending without safojoiafdsjoasi screaming!!!

Please read this.

Oh god. I can't believe I loved it, but I did!!!!

Book Review: Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey

★★★★☆ (4/5 stars)

First Impression
I LOVE Janet Lee Carey. I first read Dragon's Keep while I was in Elementary School (or something) and I really really love the way she writes. I thought this was something related to Dragon's Keep, so I picked it up. Oh, and the cover is GORGEOUS. Way better than Dragon's Keep, that's for sure.

What I Liked
No character was PERFECT. THEY WERE ALL FLAWED IN GREAT WAYS. AND REALISTIC WAYS. (Like Meg and Poppy.) Garth (or w/e you want to call him, don't want to spoil anything) was amazing. He was such a kind and caring character, which is kind of cliche but I love his heart! He didn't judge anything by looks and he was still vulnerable, like any other man. Carey didn't write him as the perfect man, which is what I hate about some books.

Flawed girls with perfect guys? NO THANK YOU. BOYS ARE FLAWED  AS WELL.

I also LOVED LOVED LOVED how Carey wrote everything so OUT there. She didn't make any perfect girls, and Tess was not an exception. Her cauliflowered ear and blackened thumbs weren't healed ~magically~ in anyway, and Tess was totally not cliche.

I loved her resilience against Lady Adela as well. GOD I LOVED THIS!!

What I Didn’t Like
I saw everything a mile away. If you kind of follow the writing, you can tell that Tess isn't going to wed to some normal man. And if you think about Garth's hunting lodge... Well, DUH. I apologize if that spoiled anything!

But I hated how I never realized in the beginning, so that forced me to re-read the whole thing.

One Sentence Review
The characters were beautiful but I saw everything 10 god damn kilometres away.

Book Review: The Geek Girl's Guide to Cheerleading by Charity Tahmaseb

rating:★★★☆☆

Well that was better than I expected.

first impressions
I had pretty high hopes for this book, since some of the reviews really praised it... I actually bought the epub of this book, which kind of shows how desperate I was to read it. I put this one down for a few months and finally finished it today.

raves
okay okay. I loved the integration of Pride and Prejudice (I LOVE LOVE LOVE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE). I didn't realize how it fit in with the story until the very end and it just gave me a bunch of little grins. Oh, and Brian. Brian totally made me laugh. I loved Todd as well. What a quirky character. Jack seemed like a normal, and talented nice guy and he didn't really strike me as anything... except the last scene of the book was really cute. I loved it. I loved it!! I'LL ADMIT. I LIKED IT!! I think the characters were nicely developed.

Oh and the $3 rose thing? We do that too at my school. Haha. Liked it.

Also the bullying stuff? I liked it. Don't ask me why, but I LOVED THE BULLYING SCENES. AHAHA! SO REALISTIC.

rants
I'll admit it was cliche... but I don't have a lot of bad things to say about this book, except that it was really cliche. But it was nicely written!

So yeah. this was definitely better than I expected! 3.5 stars for me. :)

RATING ★★☆☆☆

rants
This soulless book was pointless. All it did was follow the same formula of twilight and YA novels and added some deities and souls.

IT WAS MISERABLE. Half the time I was fighting a mad urge to throw my ereader and I was groaning at the scenes where Pagan was all emotional about Dank leaving. Then she gets sent to a loony bin.

And Pagan gave boring monotonous speeches with no contractions that made me gag.

This all sounds like BLOODY TWILIGHT.

1. male is inhuman, check.
2. male stalks woman in room, check.
3. male sings woman to sleep, check.
4. woman befriends other male for comfort from her love leaving, check.
5. AND THEN HE COMES
BACK TO SAVE HER FROM A PSYCHO FEMALE. CHECK.

TWILIGHT I SAY. TWILIGHT. I AJSOIDFJASOIJ GAHHH IT WAS SO STUPIDLY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE PAGAN WAS /EMOTIONLESS/. EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY SHE WAS "PASSIONATE". SHE WAS ANOTHER BELLA SWAN TO ME.

Bah. I dont know if I will read the sequel when it comes out. /massages temples.

OKAY OKAY. But I'll admit. I liked the romance. /screams

I'm done.

Book Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

RATING ★★★★★

first impression
THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. PERFECTION MAYBE.
I WAS CLUTCHING AND SCREAMING MY E-READER THE WHOLE TIME
AND GASPING IN AP PSYCHOLOGY DESPITE THE STARES I GOT
IT
WAS
AMAZING.
///AND CUT. My insane raving.

reaction
Oh. Woah there. What a whirlwind.
I never realized that this book may not suit others, but from the moment I picked it up, I can say that I was COMPLETELY hooked. I kept reading and reading and didn't realize how fast I'd sped through this. (And that has NEVER happened to me before.)

And yes, some people may think it moved slow, but AU CONTRAIRE.. I think it was WELL DEVELOPED.

raves
The language hooked me and really appealed to me and I loved Meyer's descriptive language. I mean, I can completely map out each scene in my head and every single character... Except for their faces!

Also, the SETTING. The setting REALLY hooked me in and it was a mix of everything, EVERYTHING I love and loved. It's also everything that I am. (Asian culture, hence, asian.) New Beijing with Technology? It also had a hint of old-fashionedness which I looooove. I'm all about regency y'know. Loooooved this. Soooo bad.

rants
I felt that Meyer really lacked in describing Cinder and Kaito or any of the characters. Sure, I know Kai's hair colour but I know barely anything about the other characters! Their personalities were great and grounded but I couldn't exactly picture their faces.

Maybe that's not important for some, but I really love facial expressions. Or maybe I was just really hungry for facial descriptions for this particular novel!

So now, I'm completely at a loss after the end. I CAN NOT WAIT ANOTHER YEAR FOR THE NEXT BOOK .
NOR CAN I WAIT TWO YEARS FOR THE THIRD BOOK. AND DONT EVEN ASK ABOUT ME WAITING FOR THE FOURTH IN 3 YEARS.

I'm gasping and shaking. How can I wait so long?
